Lucis Pro 5.0 requires Windows 2000, XP or Vista.
Lucis will run on computers
with less than 500 MB RAM but with much
slower processing speeds, which could make using Lucis frustrating. Lucis is
very computationally intensive. Although the Lucis program uses less than 1
MB of disk space, Lucis requires RAM equal to seven times the image size in
pixels for black-and-white images and five times the image size in pixels
for 24-bit color images. The recommendations above are minimum
specifications that should provide acceptable performance for most
applications.
Processing hard copy images
(transparencies or prints)
requires their conversion to digital files.
Lucis Pro Supports:
8-bit raw data RAW/BIF, 8-bit and 24-bit Windows Bitmap BMP, 8-bit and
24-bit PC Paintbrush PCX, 8-bit grayscale and 24-bit color Portable Network
Graphics PNG, 8-bit to 16-bit grayscale and 8-bit/24-bit color Tagged
Information Format TIFF, 8-bit and 24-bit Joint Photographic Experts Group
JPEG, 16-bit ASCII
To fully utilize the power of Lucis,
we recommend using a 12-bit scanner.
The image must be scanned with no enhancement of the image. Many scanners
have automatic image enhancement methods that remove information that Lucis
could otherwise reveal.
If the image acquisition equipment
outputs a digital image directly,
care must be taken to ensure that the image is not being enhanced or
processed.
Quality hard copy output of Lucis will
require a high-end printer, one
with 600 to 1200 dpi. Again, many printers have image enhancement features
that will alter the appearance of the hardcopy image relative to the view
seen on the computer screen.
Lucis Pro 5.0 allows for image
resizing.
Lucis Pro does not allow
the addition of text to images.
Therefore we recommend that Lucis Pro 5.0 be used in conjunction with an
image-editing program that provides those features, such as Adobe Photoshop.
